In an effort to introduce our entrepreneurs, ambassadors, and followers to each other, we like to feature one person (or organization) in every newsletter. Today, we’re highlighting the work of Liesbeth van Bemmel, the founder and farmer of Voedselbos Benthuizen. Voedselbos Benthuizen is a food forest that allows members to “come to harvest, plant trees,…

In an effort to introduce our entrepreneurs, ambassadors, and followers to each other, we like to feature one person (or organization) in every newsletter. Today, we’re highlighting the work of Heleen Eshuis, the founder of Stichting Bosnodig. Stichting Bosnodig is creating a food forest in the Dutch town of Voorst and has just been certified…

This weekend at COP28, European Climate Commissioner Mr. Wopke Hoekstra accepted our letter on how carbon sequestration with nature is the basis for the circular biobased economy (in other words: a future for our kids). It is about entrepreneurial people restoring carbon in soils and materials, and about what our lives will look like when…

Ballast Nedam Development and Climate Cleanup Foundation jointly open the internationalmarket for CO2 storage in construction and real estate projects. Ballast Nedam Development is taking the step as the first construction and development company to market CO2 storage in its housing projects, a historic moment for the real estate and construction sector. The company is…

Is the business community aware of Scope 0? Since the Paris climate agreement in 2015, reducing greenhouse gas emissions has been prominent on the agenda of governments and businesses. If and how companies take into account cleaning up their historical emissions – aka Scope 0 – , and what vision they have for it is…

Eric Litjens is growing the fastest growing tree on earth – which also makes it the tree that is the fastest to sequester carbon. Join the 66th Double Nature Talk! Language: DUTCH Former fruit tree grower Eric Litjens is removing carbon with Paulownia trees. At the Double Nature Lunch Talk on Tuesday 26 September, he…

Scave.World: Double Nature Talk, September 12 2023Bart van Beuzekom has a regenerative farm in Portugal and also several hectares in the Netherlands. For example, he produces delicious pasta with old plant varieties. Bart has not been a farmer since childhood; he started five years ago. Because he wanted to take action against the destruction of…

The construction sector can be made regenerative with transitions in roughly three areas: energy, materials and social. On May 22 we gathered with about 80 frontrunners in the game to make the construction industry more regenerative. The main takeaways. For Day 1 of the Double Nature Summit, on Constructions, we partnered with Gideon Building Transition…

On the final day of the Double Nature Summit – May 25 – we gathered in Amsterdam with entrepreneurs, scientists, philanthropists, policy makers, civil servants, funders, people with indigenous perspectives, NGOs, and civil society to weave all the insights together. We explored the idea of humanity as a keystone species in a stewarding role, equipping…

Do you want to make a positive difference to the future of people and our planet? Climate Cleanup is an independent nonprofit organization that realizes scalable nature-based climate solutions that store carbon with nature(tech). Because to reverse the current climate, nitrogen and biodiversity crisis, humanity needs to restore the carbon balance in the atmosphere and…

Investors, policy makers, companies and scientists present plan to restore CO2 balance May 25, the Double Nature Plan was presented at the Double Nature Summit in the Netherlands, a four-day event that has brought together a wide range of stakeholders. The plan sets out a number of actions for the sequestration of CO2 from the atmosphere by…

We would like to warmly invite you to the first four-day Double Nature Summit ever, organised from May 22nd to May 25th, with international partners, in the Netherlands and (partly) online. The summit is for pioneers, scientists, investors and policymakers or for those simply interested in these fields. The leading question is: how to regeneratively double nature to re-store…

ONCRA is out in the world. We launched ONCRA live from COP27 with co-founders and removers, from Bamboologic, The Seaweed Company, Scave, Boer in Natuur and greenSand. Take a look at the recording of the launch on our You Tube Channel. Join the ecosystem at oncra.org, and buy regenerative removal credits at onsets.org.

We’re very happy and proud the conversation between Lynn Zebeda and Paul Hawken at Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam, is online on our channel. Together with publisher Lemniscaat and partners we presented the Dutch translation of the book Regeneration, ending the climate crisis in one generation: Regeneration, de klimaatcrisis opgelost in één generatie, October 1 in Pakhuis…

Thanks to our members we have been able to work on a lot of interventions during the year 2021 / 2022. Click and take a look at the summary.

June 26 the Solar Butterfly has visited climate and nature pioneers in the Netherlands. This amazing tiny house that looks like a butterfly is powered by solar and pulled by an electric car, has recently started a 4 years tour around the world, visiting 90 countries and looking for nutritious nectar at around 1000 pioneer projects….

Join our monthly Double Nature Talk featuring seaweed legend Brian von Herzen, who was recently awarded the $1M XPRIZE for his ground-breaking carbon removal project. We’re very curious to see how his Climate Foundation will be scaling up carbon removal using ocean-based solutions. Reef Ranger Amber Stapert is also joining to tell about restoring coral…

In December 2021, the European Commission adopted the Communication “Sustainable Carbon Cycles” which sets out an action plan on how to develop sustainable solutions to increase carbon removals. Climate Cleanup with ecosystem partners ASN Bank, Gideon Building Tribes and others advised the Commission on this carbon removal certification framework. This advise can be found here….

Based on work by Griscom, WWF and others Climate Cleanup investigated how much carbon can be restored in NatureTech approaches in The Netherlands. Find the full factsheet here.

Transforming biomass into biochar is a very old way of fertilizing the soil – as well as sequestering carbon dioxide. Biochar is a booming natural climate solution. Perpetual Next’s advisor and longtime cleantech investor Albert Fischer has been working on biochar for quite some time now. He will be joined by Dutch Carboneers Berend de Haas and…

Did you know that if we co-deploy reforestation, enhanced weathering of rocks and biochar, we might sequester up to 10 times more carbon per hectare? Wednesday 2nd of March, Future Forest Company founder Jim Mann joined us online to tell about all the ins and outs of Trees and Rocks (and even biochar and therefor mycelium). The…

Which natural climate solutions are scalable? And how can we accelerate? Wednesday September 1 we kick off a new series of Double Nature Talks live at Tolhuistuin with this most pressing question. How will we remove 1500 gigaton by doubling nature? Mimicking nature, we consider our systemic interventions as mycelium inoculating a growth medium. We…

ASN Bank with Climate Cleanup created a metric enabling the financial sector to account for construction stored carbon. This carbon removal metric enables financial institutions worldwide to measure the carbon stored in biobased buildings. In the Netherlands alone, this may add up to around 50 megaton carbon sequestered this decade. Take a look at the…
