Why Nature?

To stabilise the climate we need to do three things: reduce emissions, remove the excess carbon, and restore natural ecosystems.

Nature is the most effective way to do the second and third at once. It is far cheaper than technological alternatives, and it gives back what we need to thrive: healthy soil, clean water, food and biodiversity.

Yet natural climate solutions can deliver over a third of the climate mitigation needed this decade, while receiving less than 3% of climate funding. We’re working to close that gap.

Construction Stored Carbon

Buildings that store carbon

Storing carbon in buildings is one of our focus points: a high-leverage intervention. A building of wood, bamboo, hemp or straw holds carbon for as long as it stands. Climate Cleanup developed the first working method to measure that carbon. The buildings are in the Oncra registry, open to everyone.

Life Oracle Listening now

Listening to life

A Life Node is a small solar box for the field. It listens to birds and bats and feels the soil. The Life Oracle adds what satellites see, and reads whether life is thriving there. Open standard, open software.

We don't do this alone

We build a new sector, the New Nature Economy, by supporting the farmers, foresters, seaweed growers and builders who are already doing the work. We ask what they need, help create the conditions for them to grow, learn together, and start again.
