The Interreg Agro Building Carbon (ABC) project officially launched on the 20th of May with an engaging and fruitful three-day meeting in the Province of Gelderland, marking the start of a four-year collaboration across Europe to drive climate-smart innovation at the intersection of agriculture and biobased construction.

The group visited best practices such as Regenerative Farm ‘t Gagel, Miscanthus farmer Erik Langenkamp and Agrodome. The kickoff brought together project partners from nine regions. The program included interactive workshops, strategic planning sessions, informal meetings and inspirational talks.

The region of Gelderland did a wonderful job hosting this group of policymakers, knowledge institutions and other stakeholders.

This first gathering set the tone for a series of exchanges aimed at strengthening regional policies that support carbon sequestration through collaboration between the agricultural and construction sectors. By sharing knowledge and aligning strategies with EU climate goals, such as the Green Deal and the upcoming Carbon Removal Certification Framework, the ABC project seeks to shape a more sustainable and circular economy.

The meeting concluded with a shared sense of purpose and momentum, paving the way for future interactions in the years ahead.
